Julio Rojas, MD, PhD

Assistant Professor of Neurology

Julio Rojas received a medical degree from the Tecnológico de Monterrey School of Medicine. He completed doctoral studies in neuroscience at the University of Texas at Austin with a dissertation on Strategies of neuroprotection in an in vivo model of retinal degeneration induced by mitochondrial dysfunction, and completed a neurology residency at UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas. In 2014, he joined the UCSF Memory and Aging Center as a behavioral neurology fellow. Dr. Rojas is currently an assistant professor and is part of the clinical trials team led by Dr. Adam Boxer. He is a site principal investigator for A4, A3-4/5 and TRAILBLAZER-ALZ-2, phase 3 studies of anti-amyloid therapies in Alzheimer’s disease. He specializes in care for patients with Alzheimer's disease, frontotemporal dementia spectrum disorders and dementia with Lewy bodies, and collaborates in the evaluation of research participants for the UCSF Memory and Aging Center Fluid Biomarker Core. He serves in the UCSF Institutional Review Board (https://irb.ucsf.edu/irb-review), the Neurology Department Diversity Committee (https://neurology.ucsf.edu/diversity), and co-chairs the Behavioral Management Task Force (https://memory.ucsf.edu/services/behavior-management-task-force).
